Satch's Book

Drum roll please!

Yesterday afternoon, I finished the booklet to Satch! It goes in the mail today! I am excited! As you can see, I had a lot of fun with this public inquiry.

Here is how the book to Satch finally came out! (The pictures are arranged in order of the book.)

Here is what I wrote to Satch (on official Chickasaw letterhead of course!):

Dear Satch,

We were delighted to receive your letter in the mail. What a fantastic project! A lot of rangers here are very impressed with your initiative and goal! We hope we hear from you in 2016 as to which parks you visit! Good luck!

Enclosed please find your request…with a twist. I couldn’t resist sharing a little more with you about Chickasaw and the National Park System.

I am in a unique position here at Chickasaw in that I am only here for this summer. I am an 8th grade U.S. History Teacher in Washington, DC. I am living out a dream being a National Park Ranger for the summer. This is possible through a program called Teacher-Ranger-Teacher offered by the National Park Service, where teachers work in a National Park for the summer and take their experience back to the classroom. I use the National Parks quite a bit in my class and know how much they bring history alive! I know you will learn so much from your wonderful adventures!

I have included Lauren Gurniewicz’s business card should you have any more questions about Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Lauren is our Education Coordinator for the park and would be thrilled to answer any questions you have.

Take care and happy travels! I know you’re going to have a blast!

Best wishes,

Amy

Very cool card for satch. I couldn't read all the words on the inside in the pictures. What were you final list of parks he should visit?

Hey Ranger Amy, when I grow up I want to be just like you. You are fabulous and now I know why we were all created differently. He made some of us with the naturalist talents you have so that you can share it with those of us who cannot quite seem to get there. I am loving it and it is a great experience to follow. Thanks for sharing and I cannot wait to see you. Just remember you are still a SH teacher just in case you were having too much fun out there "Ranger A"
